Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granite usually has a medium- to coarse-grained texture.
Some granites change relatively little with changes in temperature. Which also makes granite a good choice for high precision applications that require little change due to temperature.
Flexural strength, or the ability to resist bending force, makes granite a good material for load bearing applications
Granite is also resistant to many acids and other caustic chemicals, so it is often used as a liner in commercial vats and such. This also makes granite good for applications that are below grade and in contact with soil and water.
